Remember a Mixed Media Layout **C'est Magnifique** March Kit

The 7 year anniversary of my daughter Kristen's death was coming up and my son asked to see pictures of his little sister.  She passed away very unexpectedly of SIDS when she was 4 months old and it forever changed who I am.  You never get over a loss of a child, but you work though it.  My way of working through the pain is my creative outlet, it was the reason I really started to scrapbook and delve deep into the art and craft world.

The picture is of my husband and I at the funeral home the day before the funeral.  We chose to have her body embalmed, but just for us to view.  We felt it would be odd for our friends and family to see a dead baby, and I still feel a bit weird letting people see the pictures of here like this, I would rather everyone see her alive and happy.  When we went to view her that day a friend came with the program Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep to take pictures of our last moments with our daughter.  I have not looked at these pictures since the day of the funeral when she gave them to me.  They went on a shelf and I really just have not had the strength to see them again and bring up all the memories of that painful day.  Time has gone by, and my son who is now 10 (he was 3 when she passed) is still asking tons of questions about what happened to her and asked to see the pictures.  There was a lot of crying on both of our parts while viewing the pictures, and I decided it was time to do something with them.

My emotions are fully obvious in the picture and tried to convey that feeling of pain, anguish, love, frustration, hurt, numbness, and just anger into my layout.  I used a ton of paper tearing, layers of gesso, other mediums, stencils, splatters, misting, and really just getting mad at my layout beating it all to hell as a poured my heart into the piece.

Thanks for reading my post and my heart.  Please hug your little ones extra hard tonight, life changes in an instant!

Dreams Come True Layout **Guest Designer C'est Magnifique Kits** w/ Kaisercraft

Two of my kids were outside this past fall raking up the leaves to jump into, in the process they found a snake, but that is a completely different story.  I could not resist grabbing my camera and playing the mamarazzi for a bit while they were goofing around jumping in the leaves, throwing them at each other, and then at me.  Such wonderful leafy memories.  My son kept hiding from the camera, but my daughter was hamming it up.

I used the superb C'est Magnifique February kit again to create this layout.  The colors were just a perfect match for the feel of the pictures was taking.   I could not have asked for a better match for my pictures!

I took a Prima damask stencil and applied a thin coat of light paste from Prima, I did not want a heavy feel to the page, just a hint of something else there.  And of course I misted it with some yummy Tattered Angels mist in Silk.

I added a little Canvas Corp mini clothespin to the top of each picture and then cut out one of the Kaisercraft butterfly stickers and added it to the top for a cute little finish.

To emphasize the quote, I wrapped it in the white trim wrapping it around for a focal point, also helping of set the break in the picture line.  It helps draw your eye in, but then guide it around the page to the other elements.

Supplies Used
Cardstock - Core'dinations

Treasured Moments Layout **Guest Designer C'est Magnifique** w/ Kaisercraft

When I was taking the pictures for the Handmade Floral Headband from the previous post, my little model (my daughter Catherine) was just too cute.  The pictures turned out even better than I could have imagined, I had to scrap them.  Who could resist that sweet little face?!?!

I was asked to be a guest designer for C'est Magnifique Kits for the amazing February Kit.  It is just full of luscious papers, trims, flowers, and other lovely bits a bobs to create wonderful projects.  This is the second of 4 projects I am revealing this week!!

I rolled up some of the papers to add under the picture as an added embellishment.  I love layers on layouts, they help add some much dimension and interest.

Who does not love flowers, and these Prima flowers are super cute!!

Here is a fun little tip, popping up your picture with foam dots allows you tuck in little flowers along the side without covering up your picture too much.

Supplies Used
Keys -  C'est Magnifique Feb Kit (Santoro)
Mist - Tattered Angels
Adhesive - Xyron/Beacon
Enjoy!

Handmade Headband w/Video Tutorial **C'est Magnifigue Kits** Guest Designer

I was asked to be a guest designer for C'est Magnifique Kits for the amazing February Kit.  It is just full of luscious papers, trims, flowers, and other lovely bits a bobs to create wonderful projects.  This is the first of 4 projects I am revealing this week!!

I started off making a cute little headband for my daughter.  She helped me open the box when it got delivered and she saw the 2 large purple/pink flowers and held it up in her hair and told me look pretty!  Cannot deny her that the flowers were just perfect for a headband, so why not!!

Here is a little video tutorial so you can see how I made this cute little floral headband!!

My little girl Catherine loved her headband so much I had no problem asking her to model it for me.  This cute little head band is perfect for dressing up, when taking pictures, or a pretty gift for a special little girl.  Also with all the Mod Podge it makes it super durable.
