happy birthday MIL **Flamingo Scraps**

Three people in our family have almost the exact same birthday.  My daughter Cathrine Aug 20th, my mother Aug 22nd, and my mother-in-law Aug 19th.  I created this card for my mother-in-law (stay tuned for the other birthday cards or items).

I used some fun colors and papers from Heidi Swapp and Pink Paislee and inked them with Prima chalk edgers.  I used a wonderful burlap rose from Maya Road and some fun Swirls from Prima to finish on this card.  I wanted the feel of the card to be bright, cheery, and fun so I played on all the different designs of the paper (hearts, stripes, dots, grid, etc), but used 3 different colors (grey, yellow and pink).

Head on over to Flamingo Scraps to find all these wonderful supplies!!

Hidden Romance - off the page **Flamingo Scraps**

We always get the oddest items for our Flamingo 4 projects, which is the best part of it all.  I never know what I am going to create until I let the objects sit and marinate for awhile.  This was not different for the F4 of August.  I knew I wanted to do something with the box as a hidden object inside it, then it hit me, the chess pieces are the hidden items.  Then I played with the beaded flowers and bam - pull them apart and you got wings.  This got me thinking of the Disney movie Fantasia on the scene with all the mythological creatures, and in it were the Pegasus mom and dad with the babies.  Dad is a black winged horse and mom is a white winged horse (the babies are all different colors of blue, pink, yellow, etc).  I envision the box as their secret love nest, the hidden romance of good and evil, light and dark, or something like that.  So this is our glimpse of the mythological hidden romance.

Our objects this month were a small clear box, Maya Road beaded flowers, 2 chess pieces, and Fancy Pants Rub-ons.

I pulled apart one of the beaded flowers and placed 2 petals on the white chess piece as "wings" and then placed the remainder of the flower on the black chessmen for his wings.

They are nestled in a "bed of grass" which is Maya Road trim.

All around the box I used the rub-ons to decorate the love next.  I overlapped and surround all sided of the box with the flowers, vines, dots, etc from the rub-on pack.

I used wire to secure hold the front of the box open (I took off the red handle) and then used Zip-Dry glue to glue the hinges in place so the box would stay in a permanent open position so it appears that we are peaking into the box.  I then removed the wire once the glue dried.

Head on over to Flamingo Scraps to see the other fun projects using the same supplies - they all end up being so different!!

Pretty Cards **Memory maze**

Every now and then I get in a bind for a wedding shower card, wedding card, baby card, etc.  I want to give something pretty and dainty.  So I created 3 simple cards that have a feel of shabby chic to give out for any of these occasions when they arise in the future.  I used the same papers and embellishments, just different designs to give them a one of a kind feel.

For each of these cards I used a small chippie word that I left raw.  Don't always feel that you have to dress up, paint, or alter your chippie if it looks good on the project just the way it is. For the word "wishes" I had cut the word "best" off previously and used in another project.

Vintage Gift Box **Memory Maze**

Since we are moving we are saying goodbye to our nanny that we have had for the past year to help me with the kids during my husbands deployment and moving days.  I want to give her a little thank you for all her help and hard work she has given us this past year, so I made this little gift box for her.

12 x 12 flourish corner set 8sold 3\'s
I used a plain black gift box (about 1 inch deep and 3 x 3 inches square). I then decorated the top of the box for a bit of fun.  I used the same ink on the chippie (pink distress ink) as I did to ink the edges of the papers on the box.  I used the smallest chippie from the 12x12 swirl set.

thank you - card **Flamingo Scraps**

For the past year and half I have had a nanny to help us out with the kids while my husband was deployed or working away from home.  Our time with our nanny has come to an end as we are moving and will finally be living as a whole family again.  As a thank you for all her hard work and time with our family I created this card and envelope for her.

Using the wonderful journal cards and press-ons from Pink Paislee from their Cottage Farms collection from Flamigo Scraps I crated this card.  I layered up the wonderful colors and textures of the cards and press-ons over a simple kraft cardstock base for a fun and funky feel.  I inked the edges of all the cards with Prima Chalk Ink Edgers, they are so easy to use to get in those small edges!

I love the idea of not only the card being beautiful, but also the envelope.  So here I used two of the Pink Paislee press-ons to jazz up the envelope too.

So head on over to Flamingo Scraps to get your supplies to start creating something wonderful!

So Blessed **Memory Maze**

Over a year ago I went to a conference and took a class on how to use acrylic.  We made the three background pieces in that class.  Since then they have been sitting in the bag I brought them home in since the class did not allot enough time to finish the project, but it was still a fun class.  As I was cleaning up and packing my scrap area getting ready to move I came across the bag with my unfinished project laying inside.  I took the parts (paper, flowers, and acrylic) and mixed them in with some raw chipboard to complete the look.  Never be afraid to deviate from the products and look of a class project, make it your own!!

I did not place any pictures into the trifold yet, as I wanted to place more current pictures of my kids dressed up nicely and we are getting professional pictures done of my little ones when my daughter turns 1 at the end of August.

Here I cut up 2 of the chippie swirls and placed them behind the flower on the top.  I then used two underscore chippies and placed them on either side of the mat and stamped title.

Vintage Corners

Here I used the vintage corner chippie at the top and a swirl with a flower on top at the bottom.

On the last page I used the same swirl chippie as the first page but whole and the same underscore between the two mats.
