Mixed Media Shabby Chic Steampunk Junk Journal

Sometimes getting all painty and messy is all part of the fun of making art, this is what a junk journal is all about.  There is no reason, rhyme, or way to do it - you just create and go where you want to with it.  You can use anything and everything in your journal.  Really it is just what inspires you, a chance to really just create with no boundaries!

I started with the A Vintage Girl chipboard items to create this junk journal, and the journal is part of it too!!  My front cover is filled with layers of stencils, bling, flowers, papers, and just steampunk fun!!

I then moved onto the 2nd and 3rd pages.  The back cover of the front page is more like a scrapbook layout, but instead of pictures, they are cut outs from a 6x6 scrapbook paper.  The 3rd page is a section of the A Vintage Girl book that looks like a gear.  I added paint and layers of metal elments until it felt right.

For the 4th page, I gave a bit of relief just just painting the the chipboard and adding a layer of stencil work.  The 5th page is another layered mixed media page fill with elements of all types, really playing up that huge gear chipboard item from A Vintage Girl.

Junk journals are so freeing, and the best part is I can always add more to this book by just opening up the binder rings.  I only used half of the original book, so plenty left to still create!!

Family Flip Flap Mini Scrapbook Album

I love to give a little mini album to the grandparents each year.  This year is a little flip flap album that is clean and simple, but full of little surprise flaps that hide little fun pages.  This book is super easy to put together, all you need is 4 sheets of cardstock!  Check it out below.

I first started by taking 4 sheets of cardstock and and Xyron Tape Runner to creating the base of the flip flap books.  These are so easy to make, and kind of addicting!  Check out the video below to see how. 

I then used the Wild Whisper Forever and Always paper collection for all the insert and flaps in the book.  They were the perfect fit of colors of masculine and feminine so that each page work for all the members in my family.  Check out how I embellished each page n the video below.

To stick all the chipboard, papers, and pictures into the book I used the Xyron Tape Runner or the Xyron 3" Sticker maker to make these books to fast and easy to make!  Check out some the pages below.  Check out the video above for all the page details.
