DIY Pottery Barn Knock Off Vases

I love making my own version of something but with items from around my house, the best part if when it is from upcycled parts - like glass jars!  Check out how easy these are to make below!

This post also contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.  Various companies provided me with some product to create this project.  The opinions I share are solely my own.

Learn how to make these vases in the video below.

First step is to clean and wash your jars of all labels.  I like to soak them in water to get the main part of the label off then use a label remover like Undo to get the rest off.  I then etched one of the jars in Etchall dip n etch liquid to "frost" it, just for a little somehting extra.

I then cut  strips of Styletechcraft vinyl into different widths and added stripes to the jars from thick to thin bottom to top.

Then add a little twine to top and glue it place.

The first jar I did in a teal Polished metal vinyl, and the second one I did in a yellow polished metal vinyl.  Really it works for any color you want to make your jar!

What color of vase will you make?

3 Ways to Upcycle Dollar Tree Greeting Cards

I love receiving and giving cards, but I hate to just throw in in a draw or in the recycle bin.  So here are 3 fun ways to upcycle or repurpose those cards you give or receive!

I was compensated for this post. This post also contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

I love to use the cards from Dollar Tree, they have some amazing cards with are made by Hallmark and the best part is they are only a $1 or 2 for $1!!!  It is 1 year carrying the Expressions and Heartline by Hallmark cards, exclusive just for Dollar Tree, and they just keep getting better and better!!  Check out my video for each one and also my 3 ways to upcycle!

There is an amazing giveaway going on right now at Dollar Tree for some amazing prizes including gift cards and also the wonderful greeting card!!  Click on the graphic below to enter today!

So now on to how to upccyle these wonderful cards once you have them, each is included in the video in detail on how to make each step.

1 - Postcards

So easy to turn the cards into a post card.  Just cut them down to size of 4 x 6 inches and add the postcard lines and stamp mark on the back!!  Super easy :)

2 - Bookmarks

Cut the cards into any strip you wish.  Some card have enough of a design that you can get 2 strips out of 1 cards!  There are so many amazing cards in Dollar Tree with their select lines such as the Mahogany, Tree of Life, joyfully your, and Vida - there is a little something for everyone!!

Once you have the strip of card you want for your book mark, place it through your Xyron Creative Station Lite with the Laminate refill.  The card paper is already super strong, but the added little bit of laminate makes it waterproof now too!

3 - New Cards

The other fun one is to actually make new cards from the old ones.  I used some note cards that people had given me over the last month and use them as the background paper for each of the 3 cads below.  They are all stuck together with my Xyron Tape Runner, works like a charm!!!

I hope this has inspired you to upcycle the cards that you have received in the past, and also to go out and get some new ones from Dollar Tree to send off to friends and family!!!

Upcycled Etched and Vinyl Kitchen Canisters

I have had these kitchen canisters for over 10 years.  I had them stuck in a cupboard for the last few years, really since our last move 5 years ago and almost passed them along to goodwill, then I got an idea - I am going to give them a bit of a makeover and bring them back to life!  So I pulled out some etching creme, vinyl, and a gold paint pen and had some fun!

This post also contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.  Various companies provided me with some product to create this project.  The opinions I share are solely my own.

Check out my video to see how to make these fun glammed up canisters!

Just to give a little idea of the before look of the canisters.

After giving each canister a good cleaning, I etched the top of each jar with Etchall etching creme using vinyl as a mask and die cut out with a metal die.

I changed up the patterns on each canisters, using different parts of the die cut vinyl mask.

I then used the gold paint pen to add some fun gold colors to the jars.  It won't rub off since I gave the porcelain a "tooth" when I etched it.

i just love the etched look with the gold!

Then I cut out more section of vinyl this time in silver with the same die.  I used the etch mask to apply the vinyl to the jars so it went of even and aligned the way I wanted it to be.

I added all kinds of fun deigns to the sides of the containers.

I love the finished look of these containers, not sure if they will stay in the kitchen, as of right now they are in my craft room being used for crafty storage!

What fun item do you have in your house that you can alter and make new again?
