mother and daughter **flamingo scraps**

This picture was taken when my daughter Catherine was 2 weeks old at our annual burger and butterflies event to help remember children we no longer have with us, and for us it was for my other daughter Kristen.  Having Catherine there with me and the absence of Kristen makes the event that much more special.  The writing says "I have only held you in my arms for 2 weeks, but I know in my heart, soul and in my bones that I will love you forever my precious Catherine".

For this layout I used a tight to the center feeling, leaving the outside of the circle as an empty space.  All the flowers, butterflies, ribbons, doily, and cards are meant to draw your eye into the picture.

I used a digital file I had for butterflies, printed them out in various sizes, and then place a layer of crystal beads over them with Glossy accents.
I added extra Prima roses (the black ones) into the Prima vine for extra dimension and contrast.

I wanted to match the look of the "mother and daughter" note card with the stitching, but the "love" card did not have it.  So I cut it in a circle, traced the scalloped circle from the other card, and added faux stitching by punching holes in the paper with a paper piercer and connecting the holes with a pen.

Pinewood Derby

Morgan at his first Pinewood Derby for Cub scouts.  He got 2nd for the tigers and 6th overall.  Papa By helped him make the car since daddy was not home to help.  We got ti weighed and got it to exactly 5 oz.  Even Brandon got in the action and took one of daddy's old cars and ran it for fun at the derby.

I really played with the ideas of funky layers with strips of paper and lots of random punching using my edge punches.  I punched over other punches, punched part way with the punches (did not have the paper fully in the punch).  I mostly just played and i was looking for a fun funky feel to the page.

Here you can see up close some of the fun layers I got with the punches.  I then used various mists in yellows and blues to color the chipboard and also to just spray the layout in general.

I used the negative space of the "tiger" paws (which are on the page in black chipboard) and used them as stencils to create paw tracks with gesso and then I sprayed them with mist.
