My husband is graduating this May with his Master's Degree and we are hosting a party to celebrate. So of course I wanted to help make some fun and unique decorations to help celebrate this amazing event!! I have already created the Dessert Stand for these amazing cookies my friend made, and now I want a centerpiece for the food table as a fun decor item.
I started out making the fun Mortarboard for the topper our of Makin’s Clay® in black using the Makin’s Clay® Texture Sheet C in weave and the Makin’s Clay® Standard tools. I then used some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to color the sting for the tassel of the hat. Here is a video tutorial on how I made this fun little hat for the top of the cake.
I then set out to create all the embellishments and assembling/painting/adding Canvas Corp paper to the base of the cake with boxes, the little paper mortarboard for the sides from EZ Laser Designs, Makin’s Clay® ropes in black for the piping along the edges, the white Makin’s Clay® doily with the Makin’s Clay® Texture Sheet Set C in Lace, little Makin’s Clay® rolled balls in white for the corners, and painting the Creative Embellishments chipboard numbers. Here is a video tutorial on how I created all the steps above.
The last step is to combine all the parts together. Check out my video tutorial below!!
I got to use some amazing products for this little centerpiece. All are shown below.
Here are some other pics of the faux cake.
Have fun at your next party!!!
