Memories (Rohan) **Memory Maze**

In our second year of marriage (2003) Mike and I got our first dog together, Rohan, named for the Lord of the Rings.  We got him from a shelter in Houston at 7 weeks old and were not sure how big he would be, he was only 8 lbs when we got him.  We only knew his mom was 78 lbs.  Turned out he was going to be a 115 lbs dog, and a pure sweetie.  We assumed he had some German Shepard due to his coloring, and then we though lab and maybe golden retriever, but he was a true mutt and a great dog.

This past January he passed away.  He crawled back in a corner of our backyard and passed peacefully hearing our boys playing in the grass around him.  He was just shy of 10 years old.  So mild mannered and calm, but he kept the best of unwanted visitors from our front door due to his size.  He was here for all our children's births and let Morgan and Brandon pull and tug on him to just the softest growl of "go away", but never a bite.  He had his moments of being a dog - destroying our fences, door frames, bathroom floor, and backdoor, but he will always have a soft spot in our hearts as a big sweetie of a dog.

For this layout I used layers of papers, findings, flowers, stickers, metals, journal cards, buttons, and the lovely chipboard from Memory Maze.  I glued them all down and painted them with gesso, let it dry, and misted with various types of mists in colors of green, red, orange, and yellow.

 

Here you can see the chipboard of "friends" with I separated out into 3 parts using water - tutorial found on my blog from the recent blog hop we just had,  and the edge of a open window shutter.

 

Here you can see the word "memories", the word "boy" that I cut from "It's a Boy" and then split in two using water - same tutorial as above, and the inside of the the flowered window frame.
