Tips and Tricks to Getting my Craft Desk Organized

Staying organized is key to a creative space.  If you cannot find the item you need to use, then it can make your creative process super hard and fluster your process.  So organization is key!!  Today I tackled my drawer on my desk - it is the junk drawer and the one that I spend way to much time hunting for things inside it.

This post also contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.  Various companies provided me with some product to create this project.  The opinions I share are solely my own.

Check out my video to see how I organized not only my drawer, but a second unit on my desk as well!!

So this is what my drawer looked like before I got after it.  It really became the catchall for all the crap on my desk, when cleaning of the surface it was the catch for all kinds of things.  So the first job was to clean out the items that did not belong, and to even purge the things that needed to be trashed.

Now it is time for my Deflecto caddy storage tray to help keep all my little bits from rolling all around the drawer, it really did the trick!  I had a second 2 drawer system from Deflecto that I had cleaned out and purged to it came to the rescue!!

the top drawer has all my bits for my camera that I need, but do not use all the time, like the strap and extra batteries.

The bottom drawer has extra electronic items, such as external chargers, extra cables, earphone, and other bits.

With organizing these two spaces, I was able to de-clutter a really large area of my desk and clean up a few different spots and items that really did not have a home.  Not everything has it place!

How area of your craft space are you going to organize?

I am in organizing mode, and today I am tackling some textures and trims I got a couple years ago at a CKC convention that have been tucked away in a drawer and I forget about them.  They are starting to fray and get messy, so time to to get to work!!

Here is a detailed video on how I organized it all!!

Some up close shots.

This is the organizer I used, just stacked 2 high.

This is where I keep my organizer for easy access!!

Punch Card Ribbon Storage in Tilt Bins **Deflecto** w/video Tutorial

I have been battling with my ribbon storage for a while, pretty much just dumping it in 2 containers without much organization and it has gotten to be a mess!  As soon as I saw the Tilt bins from Deflecto I knew I had the answer to my ribbon/thread/lace pretty much anything on a spool organization problem.

Here is the complete tutorial on how I organized my mess of ribbon in to this neat and organized unit!!

Each color of ribbon has its own bin for easy access to find the perfect ribbon for my crafty needs!!

In each bin I stored each ribbon on a punch card I created from the Deflecto Sign Tag sheets and then laced the ribbon thought to help keep it all organized.

The beauty of these Deflecto Tilt Bins is that they stack and slide onto each other to make one unit!!  I used the 5 and 6 drawer tilt bin, but there are other sizes.  They even come with hardware to mount it onto the wall!

Here are the deflecto products I used to organize my ribbons

I now challenge you to to organize your ribbon stash!!
