I wanted to create a piece that was about me. I used my favorite colors (blue and green), flowers, sparkles, mists, paints, gesso, beads, and and more, so much more!! I really just ad fun with it, and played with the elements not worrying about but just had fun! This is really my personality in art!
I started with a 4 x 4 canvas from Canvas Corp and flipped it around using the backside as my starting point.
I painted it with various colors of mists, paints, and stains in the colors of blues and greens from Tattered Angels.
I then took random puzzle pieces let over from sets from my kids (all sizes, all shapes) and used the back side of each of them. For some of the pieces I used gesso on them to give the paint more to sick to, but for some darker mediums I just painted it straight on. Each puzzle piece is a different color, medium, stain, paint, mist, etc. I just played. I then layered the puzzle pieces as though they were exploding from the inside of the canvas out, placing layers upon layers of pieces (about 40 total). I then added in Sparkle Medium and Mica Powders from Imagination Crafts, beads, and other fun bits on bobs that fit in the colors of blue and green.
I then added in the beaded strings coming fro the center and topped it off with e pretty flower. The title is "Pieces of Me" because each pieces of the puzzle is something that I love, whether it be color, the type of medium, the arrangement, the sparkle, etc - it is the type of artist I am.
