Using my wonderful swirlydoo kit, I created this layout with the Feb swirlydoo sketch. It is my son Brandon at 1 year. He is such a doll and full of smiles!! If you look close you can see on the right side of the photo his hair just starting to flip up into the slightest bit of a curl.
There are so many fun techniques I used here, I learned from lots of people, so I hope I do not leave anyone out!! I loved the look of the large flowers behind the photo, acting as a mat, so I sprayed some of them with a hint of blue, also to save from wasting the flowers, cut them in half since you are only seeing half of the flower anyway!!
I love Gabrielle P's blog and her layouts, and one thing I notice on her pages is her use of layered punches below her pictures, it gives such a wonderful riches to the layout without cluttering it, plus it adds a finished line to the bottom of your photo.
I love the little mirror stickers we got in our kit this month, so I used one to write down information about Brandon and what he is doing at 1 year.
I also have been loving Isay's layouts lately, she uses string and fibers winding all over, so I took that idea and ran with it with the twine, it just takes lots of glue dots to hold it down where you want it do flow (also a hint, do not use big twists, use little ones).
I hope you enjoy this, it is one of my favorites!!
wow.. i just came across your blog and totally fell in love with this gorgeous layout!! such an adorable photo.. love it..
ReplyDeleteThat is a precious picture you used. Such great use of a fun sketch.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining us this week at
sketches In Thyme
Hope you come back real soon.
I love this layout! I love how you used the flowers, and it does not in any way look "girly". I have two sons, and am always looking for masculine ways to incorporate things that are considered feminine.
