DIY "Give Thanks" Stenciled Fall Wood Sign

I just love the feel of the wooden rustic signs, and guess what they are super simple to make!!  Just a few simple supplies and an amazing stencil and you are set to go!!  Check down below for my giveaway and also the blog hop with some amazing talented ladies!!

Various companies provided me with some product to create this project.  The opinions I share are solely my own.

Here is the video to show I easy it is to make these signs!

I love the mix of the different textures on this sign, from the wood to the burlap, and then the softness for the felt to and then the shine of the words - it really does make for a fun sign.

I started out using a scrap wood plank and "staining" it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to give it that walnut feel and then stenciled on the words with the NEW TCW Rustic Sign Stencils and paired it with the beautiful gold paste.

I then added in some rolled felt flowers with some burlap leaves and tied it all together with an orange rope, because autumn just begs me to use orange!

I used a staple gun to add the rope to the back of the sign, and now I have a fun little Autumn sign that I can hang up on my front door or in my house from the start of September through the end of November!

See what I mean about the scrap wood, it has some old glue on it, so that is why it is on the back of the sign and not the front!!

I used Supertite fabric Tack glue to hold the felt flowers together, and it works great!

Halloween Clay Clips **Makin's Clay & Tattered Angels & Canvas Corp & Beacon**

I wanted to play with the idea of making some cute little clips for Halloween to place on treat bags, tags, cards, mixed media, banners, planners, or some other fun project.  The best way to make a cute little figure is clay, you can make any shape you want and it looks amazing.

Here is the video tutorial on how to make these cute little clips.

These little Halloween characters are just to fun to make.  A cute bat, jack-o-lantern, ghost, and cat.  Take a look at them up close.

Each character is glued to the back of a canvas corp black clothespin clip to make them able to clip to many different projects.

Here is also my latest unboxing video of my Makin's Clay supplies including my fun new tool to shape and mold clay.

Have a great Halloween!!

Daughter **ScrapPlezier & Susan K. Weckesser & Canvas Corps**

This is a picture of my sweet daughter Catherine and I playing around last spring.  She just loves to be tickled and to be held upside down, and the wonderful photographer caught me playing around with her to get her in a good mood for the pictures we were about to have. Sometimes it is the pictures you were not intending on taking are the best!!

I used lots of layers per my norm, I just love layers!! It adds such a depth to any project, keep it from being so flat even thought it still is mostly flat, as it is just paper and ink.  I used the center of my papers as the focus of the layout, and just let the beauty of the doily edge around the outside shine.  The papers all came from ScrapPleizer - they have such a wonderful selection of Kaisercraft that all work so well together!!  Head on over to check them out, they have some great challenge there too!!

I love Susan K. Weckesser stamps, they work for so many projects.  Here are some of my favorite phrases.  One is "Celebrate the Simple Things" and boy is this true, never forget the little things that make life so full of joy!!  I used it here as a subtitle below some of the layers.  Here I also took the wonderful Glimmer Glam from Tattered Angels to paint the chipboard title "Daughter" from Want2Scrap.

Here I took two of the phrases from the stamp set below "Create your Day" and "Don't go through life grow though life"  as they both just work with this picture so wonderfully.  I stamped these along the side of the layers as seen in the picture above.

From the same above stamp set I also took the phrase stamp "Homegrown Love On the Home Front" as used it randomly around the page for lots of subtitles and also to add an even more distressed look to the page.

Anchored **Susan K. Weckeser & Just Imagine & Birds of a Feather**

While I was getting my undergrad degree I also was obtaining my Third Mate's License.  This meant I was going to to sea every summer on a training cruise to gain sea-time for my license.  We did everything, navigation, maintenance, cleaning, lines, laundry, classes, watch, and much much more. I loved going to to sea, but my final cruise was harder to leave as I was leaving behind my fiancee at the time.  This picture is of us just before the ship left and I was on stern line duty.  It was very bittersweet I loved the sea, but to be gone for 3 months just broke my heart.

I used the beautiful July Kit from Birds of a Feather.  It is stuffed full of wonderful sea life papers, just perfect for my days out at sea.  Here I used tons of layers of papers, of a canvas triangle, flowers, chipboard pinwheels, twine, stickers, burlap, stencils, punches, and a pull out tag.

I made the tag base from Susan K. Weckesser papers.  I cut out a white section of her "Live in Color" cardstock.  I then added in the dotted lines with her stencil in navy chalk ink (to use as my lines for the journaling) and then stamped in silver ink the super sweet triangle pennant banner from the "Create your Day" set.  I then added n strips of papers in navy and white colors and topped it off with a sticker and twine for the pull out section.

The tag reads "Departing on my senior cruise.  I was working the lines.  It was so bittersweet to leave.  I loved being at sea, but it was so hard to leave Mike."

Here you can see additional use of Susan K. Weckesser's stencil with the chain and the "x" in navy ink on the papers.  I used Kreaxion Punch 920 from Just imagine with the C insert.  I punched every corner of all the papers in the layers (except for the very bottom layer below the burlap).

I used the same Kreaxions 920 punch all along the edges of the the layout with out any insert.  I only punched out the star shape, some complete stars, come partial.  I did this randomly around the entire perimeter of the layout on all 4 layers for tons of dimension and texture.  I also did "half way" punching of the stars to leave an imprint of the star shape but not punching it completely out, in a sense embossing it into the paper.  I then took navy chalk ink and rubbed it on top of the impression to make it pop off the page.  I used Susan K. Weckesser stamps again here, with the triangle banner from the "Create your day" set as seen above on the tag and also a larger stripped triangle from her "Celebrate the Simple Things" set going across the page behind the picture from the left side coming back out on the top right of the layout.

The wonderful news about being gone from your loved one is the is light at the end the tunnel - the heaert does grow fonder being apart.  We were back together again three months later (he even met me at one port of call during the trip) and now have 4 beautiful children together.
