Morgan Kinder **Momenta**

Kindergarten was an interesting year for my son Morgan.  There were lots of downs, but in the end it turned out good.  This is his class picture from his kinder year (2011-2012).

I used almost completely Momenta products on this layout. I wanted to make this fun and in the spirit of the colors and feel that kinder has, the kids are so full of life so i wanted the layout to show the same feel.  I used lots of colors, shapes, fonts, and sizes to capture the feel of kinder.

I used these wonderful products from Momenta:

Thanks for looking!!

Family 2012 **FD and Momenta**

My sister in law got married in June of 2012 and as we were waiting around after the ceremony was over taking all the family pictures I had another family member take this picture with my phone.  We were all dressed up and ready so why not?  Both the boys were ring bearers and my husband as an usher.  I was 32 weeks pregnant with our second little girl.

I did quite a few different techniques on this page.  First was to create the back purple color behind the doilies and in front of the black background.  I could not find the color I wanted, white was to harsh and I already had a black background.  I took the black soot and concord distress inks and blended the color onto white cardstock.  I then sprayed it with water to blend it further.  One of the many uses of distress inks!!

I also used the wonder brass stencils from Momenta to create the wonderful black swirls you see all over the page.  I used the stencil and black acrylic paint (think paint) and applied it over the stencil on top of the paper, carfully pulled the stencil up, and viola - wonderful swirls!!

Enjoy!!

precious girl **Momenta and SKWAD**

Our 4 baby (a girl) is due on the 20th of Aug (yes in like 2 weeks).  We went to get the 4D ultrasound done when i was just shy of 34 weeks.  It was so cool to she her; the shape of her nose, the chubby cheeks, she even blinked for us at the very beginning.  She got the hiccups, she was wiggling all over the place, and the best part is we got to share this moment with our 2 boys and my husband.  He has so little time to spend with her before he deploys (about 7 days total) that even time seeing her in-utero is well worth it.  She looks so much like her just older brother Brandon, it is eerie...

I did a lot of fussy cutting on this payout from patterned papers, the oval flower frame and all the scalloped framed flowers.  I also did a lot of different treatments to the DA chipboard.  First i white washed it with white acrylic paint diluted with a lot of water.  After it dried I applied baby pink puffy paint to the various parts of the fountain, and also some distress stickles in dusty rose.  When dried I applied onyx perfect pearls around the entire outside edge to outline the fountain, and then applied the various sizes of black pearl gems.

I also played with a set of stamps from Heartfelt Creations.  I stamped in a very light silver ink and then applied baby pink gems to the swirls to enhance the effect.

I used Momenta alpha stickers both in puffy and in chipboard for the title of this layout.  They were just perfect!!  I did add a little grey ink to the green puffy stickers to help match the distressed looked of the layout, and it turned out perfect!!

Cute **Momenta**

My husband's youngest sister just got remarried to in June 2012.  They had a fun idea of a photo booth, where you could dress up, take 4 pictures and you got to keep them!!  My husband and I had just been to another wedding two months earlier and they had the same thing (I guess it is all the rage) so we already had fun pics of us, so I thought my youngest son would have a blast with me.  He picked out the hats and the sock monkey to pose with.  He had so much fun!!

I have seen hexagons in loads of layout recently and I had to try them for myself.  So I loaded up my cricut and cut out tons of hexagons from two different patterned papers from Momenta.  I then used a brown marker to give each hexagon a defined edge to help it pop off the page.  I did the same marker effect but in blue (same blue as the journaling) to give an edge to the raw chipboard.  I used the same Momenta paper (just the backs of each) for the butterflies and the orange mat to the center picture.

Brandon and I playing around in the photo booth!

For some fun elements and texture I used a Momenta stencil and brown paint to crate the swirl effects.  I just used the lip of a cup dipped in red paint for the circles.

Something good will happen today

This past Christmas of 2011 the entire Reed family got together in Atlanta, all 21 of us.  While we were there we got professional pictures taken, some posed shots and some candid.  This picture of Brandon and Grandpa By was one of those rare candid shots that is just perfection.

The poem reads

A boy needs his Grandpa...
For man-to-man talks,
To go hand in hand
on companionable walks.

To fix up his toys
when they no longer go,
To tell him the things
little boys want to know

A boy needs his grandpa...
To sit on his lap
And if no one is looking
They take a wee nap.

As time goes on slowly
Their bond still grows
Each smiling gently
At something only they know.

I found the poem on-line by an unknown author, but change some of it to make it fit these two better.

I had a completely different layout in mind when i first started creating this one.  I had a wooden clock, a metal key, and a metal key hole glued down to the layout when I got the epiphany to use the poem in word strips instead.  I loved the look of the strips, it made the layout look more cohesive and not so disjointed, but i had already glued on the other parts, and when I pulled them off the paper pulled off with it, leaving huge gaps, it looked awful.  So I took gesso and smeared on on top of the "holes" and then smeared black distress paint and black perfect pearls over the gesso.  I did this in more than just the parts of the holes, I also did it other random places to it did not look like i had made a mistake.

As they say there are no mistakes in scrapbooking, just happy accidents.  I love the final look of this layout a lot more than I did before i changed it!!

I loved these resin edges by Prima, but they were just not the correct color.  I took Tattered angels Shimmer paint and painted over the entire edges, it paint is so thin that it just stuck to the inset of the edge and not the tops.  The colors are so much better for this layout!!

I hope you enjoy my fun little tips!!
